Martin Luther’s chief interest in the Eastern Question lay in the belief that the Grand Turk was Antichrist: though he had an alternative candidate in the person of the Pope.

This article is an historical account of the “Lutheran” attempt for approval from the Eastern Orthodox in regards to The Confession of Augsburg.
